GUI stands for:

  • Graphical
  • User
  • Interface

Windows is a GUI, where as the MS dos prompt is a command line interface (CLI). The term GUI can be applied home computer operating systems, or web based control panels or anything that has imagery and on screen buttons to navigate around the device, like a mobile phone or sat-nav unit for example.
